The Decisions of Parenthood
I think one of the most surprising things of parenthood is the stress associated with making decisions for the little life I am in charge of. There are particular decisions that seem to rest heavy on my shoulders. At my last OB apt my doctor gave me some paperwork about having a VBAC. The risks associated with a VBAC seem terrifying. Though the chances of a uterine rupture is rare, it happens and it can end horribly. I told myself after my last pregnancy that I would not made decisions based on fear, but I feel almost paralyzed by it when I think of losing a child along with the potential to have more children. Though in all other areas of my life I feel like I am the rule, not the exception, when it comes to pregnancy and childbirth I don't trust that my experience will be what the "majority" of women experience. And so though I don't feel like it is the best decision, I am seriously considering an elective repeat c-section.
