Death by the Toasted Soy Nut

My name has been a apart of many a Fat Kid Story (FKS) and this is just one more ...

This morning I was short on time, as a result I made myself a small breakfast of 1/3 cup of soy nuts and 1 cup of grapes, instead of my usual egg and tomato sandwich. As I ate the soy nuts on my way to work I started to feel my mouth get numb, something I experienced about a week ago when eating soy nuts but did not notice the connection. When I got to work I stopped in to say a quick good morning to my supervisor. I mentioned to her that I think I might be allergic to soy nuts (as I popped a few more in my mouth). My supervisor suggested I stop eating them...I responded like I true fat kid, No I think I'll finish them, they taste really good. My supervisor, who apparently knows me very well, pointed out that I was acting like a fat kid and I needed to stop eating those soy nuts if they were making my mouth numb and my throat swell. It wasn't so much that I was experiencing allergic symptoms, but being called out in terms that I understood that made me though out the rest of the bag. Needless to say, I had a HUGE head ache the rest of the day and thinking maybe a little lunch would help I had some hummus and pasta at Pita Jungle. I was sorely mistaken, lunch did NOT make anything better. I went home sick and got to know my bathroom a little better. So, I will not be eating any more soy nuts, even if they do taste good.

A New Resolve...already

The battle rages on, the battle of the bulge that is. I find myself fantasizing about a particular greek salad I love, Chipolte burrito bowls, burgers, and fries with melted cheese and ranch dressing... and yet I'm surprised when I step on the weight watchers scale, and I've lost less than two pounds and in two weeks. Does just thinking about food these days add calories to your day? My husband on the other hand, well I'm not sure if I'm more proud or more jealous of his ten pound loss. But I do know that most of all, I am proud of him. I admire his self control and hope that it will rub off on me, and soon. He does inspire me to be better, and I have more resolve to do just that.

Before Picture

Hello Hello...

I'm giving this another try...blogging that is. My goal is to keep things short and sweet, so as to not overwhelm myself (which is not very difficult to do these days).

Yesterday I dragged my self and my husband down to the local weight watchers meeting, to once again battle the bulge. I am going to do this...this time. My secret weapon against the muffin top spilling over my jeans; my husband. He is all about numbers and with his help and support I have a good feeling about it. On top of his analytical attitude, he is quite the funny man. After the meeting, he asked me, "So should we take some before pictures?" I gave him a raised eyebrow and informed him that I consider every picture of me, for roughly the last 5 years, a "before picture" and the point of weight watchers is to not have to take or look at any more "before pictures."

So...here is to no more before pictures...Bring on the carrots!!
